Chá : Travel Tea Flask

Industrial Design
A collaboration between ual's 'Central Saint Martins' and Chinese EV maker 'Nio' to develop new product for their local market that could help their users lead a joyful life.
NIO Chá : Travel Tea Flask

Inspired and derived from Chinese tea culture, Chá is a flask that improves the ‘tea on the go’ practice while having the versatility to switch between its simpler usages like a water bottle with minimum effort. Embodying the spirit of traditional tea drinking and its subsequent health benefits but wrapped in a trendy skin.
The transparent lid gives access to store tea bags or tea leaves in the infuser while using the flask as a regular water bottle. Unscrewing the opaque lid lets one drink the contents or fill up the flask.
Twisting the two halves of the opaque lid against one another to form an ‘O’ or a horizontal ‘S’, opens or closes the infuser respectively. An open infuser allows the contents of its flask to infuse with each other.
Enabling the infuser and flipping the flask upside down exposes the water to the tea leaves for infusion while the user can monitor for their desired thickness of the tea through the transparent lid.
The rubber strap is flushed to the surface of the flask to provide a clean aesthetic with no dangling loops. The strap can either be used to grip the flask better or uniquely strap it to anything.
Iterations
Exploring forms with simple shapes and soft edges inspired by Post-Modernism as well as allowing the functionality to dictate some of the aesthetic features of the product, to appeal to the millennials.
